- Overview. The Firs provides Bed and Breakfast accommodation in a family home in the Cambridgeshire village of Dullingham. It is run by Beverley & Adrian Thurley (collectively referred to as The Firs in the following policy). In order to accept on-line bookings we must ask you to provide us information about yourself and your credit or debit card details. This information is personal data in terms of the Data Protection Act 1998 and so our collection, use and storage of your data must comply with the provisions of the Act. The Firs, as a data controller, is committed to protecting your privacy and we have taken steps (one of which is this Privacy Policy) to ensure that our processing of your data is carried out in accordance with the Act. By consenting to, and agreeing the terms of, the Privacy Policy, you also expressly consent and agree to us processing your data in the manner set out in the Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy describes the information we collect and how we use that information. We take the privacy of your personal information very seriously and will use your information only in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy. We will not sell or rent your personally identifiable information or a list of our customers to third parties.
- Information We Collect. To book a room at the Firs, you must provide your name, address, a phone number, an email address, and details of a valid credit or debit card.
- Retention of your Personal Data. We will retain the
information you provide as follows:
- Credit/Debit Card Information. We will not retain any details of your credit/debit card details (numbers, validity dates and CVV number).
- Personal Information. We will only retain the rest of your personal information for as long as we deem necessary and it will be kept secure using appropriate security measures to prevent unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
- Website Traffic Information. Because of the way that World Wide Web communication standards work, it is possible to monitor many aspects of your activity prior to, during and after your visit to any web site. Our site is linked to StatCounter (see www.statcounter.com) where this information is stored for our later analysis. This information includes the address of the web site you came from, the pages of our website you visit, your IP addresses, the type of browser you use, the times you access our website and the next web site you go to. We use this information to try to understand our customers' preferences better.
- External Links. In order to help guests plan their stay , some of our pages may provide links to various third party websites. In no case is a guest's information or 'cookies' provided to the third party sites. However, keep in mind that many sites do attempt to capture visitor information when you browse those sites. Once you leave our site, we are not able to alert you should another site attempt to gather information from your browser.
- Our Use of "Cookies" "Cookies" are small files of data that reside on your computer which some web site owners use to recognise when you visit their web site and recognise you when you return. The Firs web site does not do this.
- Disclosure to Third Parties. The Firs will not sell or rent any of your personally identifiable information to third parties, and will only disclose this information in the limited circumstances and for the purposes described in this policy. This includes transfers of data to non-EU member states where the laws on holding personal data may be less stringent, but as explained below, we will hold and transfer your personal information in compliance with the law and in a manner designed to ensure its security.
